WHY SHOULD I PERFORM THE TEST?

The level of triglycerides in the blood is strictly correlated to the cardiovascular risk. Values above 2.3 mmol/L (200 mg/dL) are considered high risk. The measuring range is: 0.56 - 5.6 mmol/L (50 – 500 mg/dL). The level of cholesterol in the blood is influenced by the diet, but also by: medicines, diabetes mellitus, pregnancy and severe illnesses. It is recommended to check blood cholesterol concentration on all people who are used to smoke, to drink too much alcohol and to eat fat and are over weight or do not exercise enough. The level of cholesterol in the blood is strictly correlated to the cardiovascular risk. Values above 5.1 mmol/L (200 mg/dL) are considered high risk. The measuring range is: 3.3 - 10.2 mmol/L (130 – 400 mg/dL).
