Books 1 & 2 of Wheel of Time

Robert Jordan 1st trade softcover books

These are the first two books in Robert Jordan's blockbuster fantasy series, The Wheel of Time.

Both books are true First Editions with the full number line on the copyright page (0 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1), making them the first ever printing of the large trade paper cover edition.

The Eye of the World was published in February 1990, at the same time as the much rarer hardcover edition. It measures 6 by 9 1/4 inches, with virtually the same textblock as the hardcover. Industry sources claim the publisher converted extra copies of the paperbound edition into more lucrative ones by binding them between hard covers and increasing the price.

The book is in near fine unread condition. The textblock appears to be largely untouched. Pages are unmarked, all four corners are square and it's hard-to-find bends or creases. Covers are largely free of wear, with only minor rubbing along the edge. There are a few light browsing creases to the spine, but overall the book is in near fine condition.

The Great Hunt is a stated F1rst Edition of the trade softcover book with the publication date of November 1990 and the full number sequence ( 0 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 ) on the copyright page.  It is in overall quite good condition with a reasonably presentable textblock and un-creased front and back covers.  The spine has a vertical crease and there is a tiny loss to one corner of the rear cover.

The major issue with this second book is the missing color endpaper at the front and a small name at the top of the half title page.

It makes a nice companion to the much more collectible first book, and could occupy an important spot in your Jordan collection until the perfect first edition hardcover comes along.
