HERE IS AN AUTHENTIC and CLASSIC ANTIQUE NAVAJO RESERVATION WEAVING. MADE FROM ALL CHURRO WOOLS - THIS RUG / BLANKET / WEAVING / TEXTILE IS IN GOOD CONDITION FOR AGE YET HAS WEAR/TEAR (SOME FRAYING ON ONE END/ A FEW SMALL SMALL HOLES AND SOME LIGHT STAINING MOSTLY TO ONE SIDE). THE SIDE AND END SELVAGES ARE PRESENT YET WORN WITH BREAKS/LOSS. NOTE THE UNIQUE AND HANDSOME PATTERN IN THE CLASSIC COLORS. THE EARTH TONE SHADES ARE HAND CARDED NATURAL WOOL BLENDS AND, THE RED WOOLS ARE HAND DYED WITH ANILINE DYE OBTAINED FROM THE TRADING POSTS OF THE TIME. THE OTHER COLORS ARE NATURALLY CARDED/BLENDED WOOL COLORS (THE SHADES OF BLACK, WHITE, BEIGE, GREY AND BROWN).
THE FINGERS POINTING SHOW VARIEGATION LINES DUE TO THE HAD SPUN AND CARDED WOOLS, THERE ARE SOME LAZY LINES AS WELL. THE LAST FEW PHOTOS SHOW THE LARGEST HOLE AND THE THE AREA WITH MOST STAIN.
THIS WEAVING IS MADE FROM 100% HAND SPUN, CARDED AND WOVEN CHURRO SHEEP WOOLS (The best and most durable wool). SEE ALL PICS FOR DESCRIPTION. THIS WEAVING DISPLAYS BEAUTIFULLY AS IS, NO FADING, A FEW SMALL HOLES, a 1 INCH AREA WITH LOSS OF WEFT, SOME LIGHT STAINS, NO BLEED OF RED DYE, NO NOTABLE BUG/MOTH DAMAGE (SEE BELOW DESCRIPTION AND PHOTOS FOR MORE DETAILS).
The size of this antique RUG / textile is approximately 55” X 29” with a wool warp of about 10 and a hand spun Wool Weft of about 40 (some variation in weft due to hand spun and carded wools). The Side Selvage cords are about 90% present (a twist of two, 2-ply beige wool yarns), the end selvage cords are about 60% present with breaks and loss (a braid of two, 3-ply wool yarns). No Bug/Moth Damage, No Rotted Wool, No Unusual Odor, No notable or uneven fade - Presents well as is, as you can see from pics. A beautifully designed, well constructed piece of Native America!
