Vintage 1937 ~ the COMPLETE OPERA BOOK ~ the stories of the Operas, together with Leading Airs and Motives in Musical Notation ~ by Gustav Kobbe ~ illustrated with sixty three portraits in Costume and Scenes from Opera 

 

Mr Kobbe died before finished this book, and Miss Katherine Wright has supplied the material which was necessary to complete his plan.

 

I have taken pictures of some of the contents pages, there are 12 contents pages and four pages listing all the plates.

 

There are far too many names and operas to type them up, sorry

 

The contents pages list the names and there birth and death and under their names is a list of the operas they had played in or starred in or has some input into. Their name may appear a few times through the contents pages… for example

REPRINTED MARCH 1937    ~  This book is 82 years old, it is brown cloth covering with black title etc.. on the spine and decoration on the front cover. The book is approximately 145mm x 220mm x 45mm.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOKS WEIGH OVER  1250GRAMS before being packed for POSTAGE SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR POSTAGE OPTIONS. Cloth hardboards are good for their age. There is some storage rubbing or bumping to the top and bottom of the spine, just a bit of wear to the both, there is discolouring or age discolouring to the spine and light spots on the covers. PLEASE VIEW YOUR PICTURES AS THEY FORM PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.  Inside the book is very good, nice and tight. Pages have no name, no tears and no scribble. In between the inside cover and first page there is a couple of small holes, minor. Some rubbing and age spotting to the back inside cover. Pages have only light age discolouring. Book is in good condition.
