The Okura Tokyo is a luxury hotel in Tokyo's central Toranomon district. Guests are welcomed into a place defined by elegant Japanese aesthetics. It began with a desire to create a truly Japanese hotel with elegance and comfort equal to the world’s best luxury hotels. The Hotel Okura opened its doors in 1962 guided by this powerful vision.
The original main building lobby was designed by Yoshiro Taniguchi, one of the 20th century’s leading Japanese architects. Taniguchi’s skillful application of a Japanese sensibility within the context of modernist architectural methods was in perfect accord with the hotel’s philosophy.
