Perfect for repurpose / upcycling: pillow covers, smaller blanket, jacket, cape, poncho, ruana, tote handbag, bolster pillows, wall hanging, saddle blanket and so many other uses.
- I have kept this blanket folded with the stain covered on the back of our sofa. It is an artifact of history, sure to be a conversation piece in your home. Because the labels are still very legible and present on the blanket, it's easy to see its authenticity. I believe they are silk - fragile, but present. See all photos
- The warmth this blanket will bring is why wool is so cherished. Folded on the bottom of your bed on those colder nights, you have a built-in foot warmer. People also put a wool blanket on the bed on top of the mattress cover, then put their fitted sheet over it - adding an underlayer of warmth to your bedding.
As an investment piece, care can still be easy. I stored this in a blanket chest with organic moth sachets (no moth balls or toxic chemicals) and would air out on the clothesline on a nice clear day. A brush with a clothesbrush from time to time will keep the fibers clear of dust and the like. When putting it away, I'd fold it into a clean cotton pillowcase, and it would be good until the next season. I do not recommend storing this with synthetic fibers. A cotton towel, cotton sheet, or sewing fabric all work, too.
- I purchased the blanket at a sale, and it was stained then.
- Item is from my pet-free, smoke-free environment
