Exceptional Ruby Red & Burgundy Patina!

1911 Lincoln Cent

NGC MS66RD (Old Fatty Slab)

The satiny surfaces have a distinctive orange peal ripple, and the needle-sharp features of each side jump out from the surface in an unusual way. The detail on Lincoln's bust is sharper and fuller than normally seen. This piece has some of the attributes of a matte Proof, but the rims are not quite squared enough for this to be one. The lettering is also slightly more wavy than on the Proofs. Still a very intriguing piece. Nearly pristine preservation and full red, with a wash of fiery rose patina over the obverse fields. What's missing from the pictures is the metallic satin that comes through the toning. NGC price guide is $2750 in MS66RD, and it's a pop 33 with 1 finer.
