Description
This is a large, high-relief, “Prize Medal” from Scotland. It was won by “George Russell Esquire” at the 1907 Horse Show in Fife for “Best Hunter Colt”.
To win "Best Hunter Colt" a young male horse (colt) typically needed to impress the judges with its overall potential as a future hunter. This involved showcasing a strong, balanced build, smooth gaits at various paces, and a calm temperament suitable for training. The horse's breed also likely played a role, with breeds known for jumping and hunting abilities being favored.
