Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Russian folklore with the "Alyonoushka" art doll, a masterpiece crafted by the illustrious Alexandra Koukinova.

This doll is not merely a stunning showpiece, but a portal to a bygone era, embodying the spirit of Alyonoushka, the valiant heroine who, alongside her brother, triumphed over malevolence.

This highly coveted doll is part of Koukinova's inaugural doll series, now called the famous "Russian Collection."  Numbered 10 out of 100 pieces, Alyonoushka is composed of the finest, hand-painted bisque porcelain. This impressive Russian heirloom features a porcelain flange head, and cloth over wire body with porcelain lower arms and lower legs.  Doll artistry at its finest!  Measures approximately 21.5 inches tall.  She possesses a curly, scarlet red mohair wig that is styled into a long braid beneath her regional headdress.  I have included catalogue photos #1 and 4 (different colorways) to display Alyonoushka without her headpiece.  Her intricate, hand-painted facial features imbue her with a truly ethereal presence.  Look at that realistic chocolate gaze and sweet smile!  Alyonoushka dons a traditional Russian folk ensemble composed of antique fabrics, ribbons, and lace.  It was hand-stitched and embroidered by local seamstresses under Koukinova's direction.  Her shoes, headdress, jewelry, and accessories were all handmade.  This doll is not just an object of beauty but a bearer of stories, a celebration of the artistry that has long defined Russian culture.

Hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity is also included.

In 1990, Alexandra Company was founded with the mission of illustrating the beauty of Russian traditional clothing through the medium of dolls.  At the time, the preservation of these exquisite regional costumes was threatened, and the creation of the Alexandra doll was a viable means of keeping these pieces of history alive.  The very first Alexandra doll was handmade by the artist herself.  Alexandra still creates and designs all the molds that are later reproduced by her staff.  Extensive research is done to ensure authenticity calling upon the expertise of three major Moscow museums -- the Museum of History, the Museum of Decorative Handicraft, and the Museum of Folk Art.  In January 1993, these special dolls were officially assessed as "HIGHLY ARTISTIC WORKS" by the government.  This austere recognition gives Alexandra access to all the Museums of Russian, including their archives.
