A superb mid 20th century, handmade, rectangular Kilim rug. 

Kilim rugs are traditionally produced in countries of the former Persian Empire, including Iran, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. They're known for their bright, bold colours, and their wonderful geometric designs. Unlike knotted rugs, kilim rugs are made using a flatware technique, which results in a flat surface with no pile. This technique is extremely time consuming and involves interweaving variously coloured wefts and warps. 

Kilims have become extremely popular with modern interior designers as they offer a heavy duty floor covering whilst giving a strong Bohemian or ethnic style to any setting. 
Each kilim is unique, as traditionally they were made by nomadic tribes people, with designs being passed down through generations. The motifs and colours on a kilim rug can often tell a story or represent aspects of the weaver's life or environment. 
As with most early/mid 20th century kilim rugs, they're not a perfect rectangle, but we think this adds a bit of character to the floor covering and shows its originality.

As every item sold by James Broad Interiors is vintage/antique please be aware before purchasing that they may show signs of fair wear and tear due to their age, however, we take pride in every item that comes out of our showroom and we will not send any item out if we are not entirely happy with its condition. Every item gets cleaned and restored (if necessary) ready for its new home. For any smalls, the item will be be posted out within 2 working days of purchase using the postage service stated on the listing.

We will refund the full amount paid using the same method by which the item was purchased provided we are satisfied it has been returned to us in the same condition. Return postage is at the buyer’s expense unless the item has arrived damaged or incorrectly described in which case the postage will also be refunded in full.
