On offer is a lovely example of a Victorian era Mauchline Ware pocket watch holder / display stand. It is made from a light colour wood which I'm told is probably Sycamore. On the lid of the case is a photographic image of Ashwood Dale, Buxton in Derbyshire. Although the image is yellowed with age it is still in good condition, and still very clear. Pieces such as this were produced as tourist ware, and many were shipped outside of the UK. Please look carefully at all the pictures as they form part of the item description.

The pocket watch case measures about 9cm in height, and the length across the hinge is 7cms. When closed the case is about 2.5cm deep. The hinged lid opens and closes smoothly, and stays firmly together when shut. Inside the case the watch aperture is 4cm diameter, and is lined with dark red velvet fabric but this is quite threadbare as the pictures show.

There are some small bumps and rubs on the item commensurate with age and handling. There are also some minor surface marks but nothing that really detracts.

Despite the minor cosmetic faults this is a lovely vintage piece. It displays well and will make a wonderful addition to any collection.
