On offer is a lovely example of a genuine signed black & white photo of Gary Cooper dated 1932. It is embossed with the photographer's name "Otto Dyar". This came from a scrapbook I bought at a local auction. It was originally owned by the late socialite Lt Hugh Longden (RN retired). Hugh Longden had aspirations to be a writer, and it would appear that on a tour around the world with his travelling companion, the Honorable George Beresford, he mixed with some very well known people. George Beresford was the son of Lord and Lady Decies of London & Ireland. Please take a good look at all the pictures as they form part of the item description.

The photographer Otto Dyar began his photographic career at the Paramount studios in the 1920s. He worked as an assistant on major film productions, but quickly rose through the ranks to become one of Hollywood's most prominent image-makers.

The vintage black & white picture measures 10" x 8". It is signed in blue ink by the late American actor Gary Cooper (1901 - 1961). The inscription on it reads “To Hugh Longden With best regards Gary Cooper 1932”. This is a very good vintage publicity photo printed on thick high quality stock. It depicts Gary Cooper dressed as Lt Sempter from the 1932 film "Devil and the Deep". The photo has been glued to the backing sheet which was a page in the scrap book.

The photograph is a little grubby from age and handling. The corners/edges are lightly bumped, and there is a pin hole on the top edge. There is light surface marking/wrinkles as the pictures clearly show, but nothing that really detracts too much at all.

Despite the minor cosmetic faults this is a wonderful vintage piece. It displays well and will make an excellent addition to any collection.
