Description A beautiful large genuine English antique solid sterling silver "novelty" pin cushion in the shape of a "hatching chick" by the famous silversmiths Sampson Mordan & Co (1823 - 1930) in lovely condition and with full English silver hallmarks for Chester 1908. Excellent quality and a genuine 116 years old; a big sized model with its original weighted interior with original sawdust stuffed cushion and it has a very old material covering. As a bonus there are no added personal engravings. From a genuine estate clearance, look out for the other Mordan chick pin cushion also being listed.
Measurements Measures approx 2.05 inches (52mm) in length (end to end) x 1.65 inches (42mm) in height and is 1.3 inch (33mm) wide.
Date English antique solid sterling silver with a set of English silver hallmarks for Chester 1908, (date letter "H"). Marks are a bit rubbed but you can just make out the date letter. The silversmiths initials are "S M & Co" (Sampson Mordan & Co - 1823 - 1930) and there is also a date registration number "Rd 475678".
Condition Lovely condition with no splits or repairs and no nasty knocks or dents, a very nice genuine antique example by the best makers and a good large size. Still with its original weighted interior and the antique material covering is in great condition with no splits/tears. Beautiful Sampson Mordan silver pin cushion and with no added personal engravings.
