Lovely, unusual hand-made oak desk accessory with repousse style pewter decoration to base and sides.  Dates to around 1920, but its actual purpose is unknown; the inner section is curved and too shallow to be a letter rack and the base has been weighted (presumably to ensure good purchase).

Despite it's apparent lack of purpose, it's look and  quality are undeniable and it is in very good age related condition.
