A 1972 Volkswagen Marathon Beetle.
1600cc Engine fitted back in 2006, no end play and pulls very nicely.
Each year I drive to Stanford Hall VW show in it, which is a round trip of 400miles and I regularly drive it to work in the summer months which is a round trip of 80miles, with no issues.
It has been well loved and lots of work has been done to it. In 2006, the previous owner did a body-off restoration where new heater channels and other body panels were fitted. I have photos of that work if needed.
Please do come and have a look at it if you are seriously interested.
I purchased in October 2020. Since then, I have done the following:
• New electronic distributor + coil + leads + spark plugs
• New break shoes + cylinders all round and New master cylinder.
• New manifold boots
• New fuel pipes (flexible) + filter
• New fuel pump and pedestal
• New exhaust system not fitted
• New tyres all round last year 2023
• Wheels shotblasted + powered coated
• New bonnet seal fitted.
• New old stock quarter window fitted drivers side
• New old stock carburettor fitted back in 2022 and fully serviced every year.
• Engine serviced every 1000 miles and valves adjusted.
• New battery in 2023
• New speedometer cable
• LED bulbs fitted in speedo
• some spares to go with it.
• MOT every year even though it's not legally required because of its age.
Work that needs looking at:
• Needs new window rubbers all round.
• Requires a respray as it is looking faded and tatty in places.
• Rust patches on driver’s side door and passenger door (on the quarter panel)
• Engine bay rain guttering has rusted away - I have new custom made replacements.
• Spots of rust in all the usual places
