AN EXTREMELY RARE CLARICE CLIFF 9" LARGE CIRCULAR PLATE IN THE "CRAYON SCENES - BEECH" PATTERN 1934

This is an extremely rare Clarice Cliff 9" Large Circular Plate decorated in the "Crayon scenes - Beech" pattern and dates from 1934.

The plate measures 9" in diameter. It carries the back stamp "Clarice Cliff, Wilkinson Ltd, England. The plate has the impressed date stamp for June 1934. The crayon scenes series was painted using ceramic crayons and only produced for a limited time in 1934. They were all painted by paintress Rene Dale who I interviewed in 1998 about this series.

The plate is decorated all over with  a scene of large Beech trees in Green and Brown trunks stood atop a Green hill wit light Blue and White clouds in the background. The rim of the plate is banded in shades of Green. The paintwork is vivid and thickly applied.

The plate is in absolutely mint condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, paintloss or restoration.

An extremely rare example of pattern and shape in perfect condition.
