Description

This is a nice, still very crispy, “Ten Hong Kong Dollars” note from "The Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank" of "British" Hong Kong. It is dated May 21, 1959. It is the first of twenty-two dates for this 1959-1983 type. This note also carries the first signature titles of Chief Accountant and Chief Manager.

The British held Hong Kong from 1842 until 1997. Since then, it has been a subjugated part of the Peoples Republic of China.
