Here is a beautiful, genuine Knoll Barcelona chair and ottoman in black Volo leather on polished stainless steel frame. Designed by Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe in 1929 for his famous Barcelona Pavilion, this particular model was sold in 1979. It has labels on both the underside of the chair and the ottoman. The small label pictured faintly reads "1979". The condition is very good for a chair and ottoman that are forty-three years old. There are some lightly distressed areas on the leather.  However, the leather has aged very nicely and the small areas that do show any age only add to the chair's charm and character. The seat cushion  is a bit relaxed but nothing serious. The leather of each chair comes from a single hide: individual leather panels are cut, hand-welted and hand-tufted. The stainless steel frame is in wonderful condition. The frame of each chair comes from a single block of of premium grade 304 bar stock stainless steel that is hand-polished to a mirror finish. This chair is ready to be placed.

Delivery is available between Washington, DC and Boston, Mass for a reasonable charge.

To order this chair and ottoman in stainless steel would cost over $17,870 with a $500 freight shipping charge, tax and a wait time of about two months.

NOTE: The default website price from Knoll, DWR and other authorized retailers ($6,738) is for the cheaper *chrome* version (product code: 250LC), which is the basic, entry-level version. Stainless steel (product code: 250LS) requires a special order and is more expensive because of its durability. Stainless steel is heavier and does not corrode or tarnish.
