This is one of a series of five plates that are hand painted Japanese Kutani.  They appear to tell a story such as an opera or fairy tale.  They have diagonal corners which are decorated in gilt and extremely detailed and colorful figures.  None of them are marked at all.  Each is 8 & 1/2" wide by 8 & 3/4" tall with an unglazed foot rim on the back.  They are beautiful and, I think, rare.
