Offered here a 2 minute Vulcan cylinder (modern, plastic, moulded) entitled "I Tiddly I Ti":

  • Mr A Smith, Cornet and Mr Martin, Piano
  • Recorded at Edison House, London, in 1892
  • 2 minutes

Unusually, the announcer on this recording is a woman, who lets us know the nature of the recording in some detail.  The piece is a cornet version of a popular Music Hall song of the period.

The cornetist, we are told by the announcer, is Mr Arthur Smith, principle cornetist at the Promenade Concerts at Covent Garden, and he is accompanied by Mr Martin on a Steinway piano, no less!

It is a fascinating piece of early Edison recording activity in London.

The original cylinder was transcribed by Mr Dominic Coombe.

Absolutely mint cylinder & box - I only played this a couple of times, having bought it new from Vulcan (where it costs £45 but is currently not available).
