Here is an authentic piece of audio recording history; it’s an original studio master tape from the television show, “The Outer Limits.” That show has an iconic legacy in television’s history; it still airs everyday in the US and around the world. This is the Outer Limits music reel from an early episode; it is a full orchestra, under the musical supervision of Dominic Fronteire. He was the head of music for Paramount and married to the owner of the LA Rams. Along with The Outer Limits, he also did the music for 12 O’Clock High, The Flying Nun and The FBI, he was arrested for scalping Superbowl tickets and spent a year in prison. But, back to the tape, it is Scotch brand, ¼” recorded, full-track, at 15 IPS. The tape is 2500’ long, for a playing time of 30 minutes; it is wound on a 10 1/2” reel with NAB hub. There is a slightly yellowed, tape label, on the reel that reads, “Roll 6-Day Star Outer Limits Music 8/23,” as you can see in the pictures. This tape has the good takes, the bad takes, the V/O slates and instructions from the control room. This tape is an authentic and unique piece of television history. If I can answer any questions about this tape, please let me know.
