Item Description

Renault RS10

#15 Jean-Pierre Jabouille

Winner French GP 1979

After using the old RS01 in the first part of the 1979 F.1 season, Renault brought the RS10 to the track, designed by Michel Tetu, who had accumulated excellent experience with Ligier. The RS10 was the first ground-effect Renault F.1: longer and more streamlined than the RS01 which made its debut in 1977, the RS10 featured the aerodynamics typical of wing-cars. Two KKK turbines were used to supercharge the V6 engine, which gave a power of about 520hp. Although reliability was still quite precarious, Renault achieved its first Formula 1 win in Dijon in 1979, with Jean-Pierre Jabouille. In that GP the other Renault driver, René Arnoux, finished third after a memorable duel with Gilles Villeneuve's Ferrari.
