If you're an uncompromising collector of antique technology, make sure to check out all my listings after you look at this one. I don't think you'll find a better, broader or more balanced assortment of technical antiques anywhere -- hundreds of listings each year, almost all of them featuring eye-popping "gee whiz" gadgetry in exceptional original condition. And don't forget, you can click this link to quickly add and then save me to your favorite seller list and Ebay will automatically send you updates when I put similar new auctions online.

Here's a beautiful, working, rare and eminently collectible Colonial New World 700 Globe radio -- in black and gold -- manufactured in the early 1930's. The radio was created by Raymond Loewy, the most important industrial designer of the 20th century.

Condition is excellent, with clean original graphics and no damage to the cabinet or the base. Some areas of wear to the delicate gold litho, but it's still prominent, with no touch-ups, and the radio presents beautifully. Grill cloth is in good condition, with only minimal wear evident. Dial light works when the radio is powered up, and the radio tunes a broad range of AM stations when connected to a longwire outdoor antenna, as you can see and hear in the video I've posted above. Chassis is clean, and the line cord is safe.

That's about it. I will package the radio carefully and properly, and I can assure you that it will show up at your doorstep in the same fine condition in which it leaves mine. Believe me, friends -- this is not a radio you want shipped to you by Bobby Barn-Find. It must be carefully and thoughtfully rigged and padded to prevent damage, and I've been rigging and padding fragile antiques for more than a quarter century.

I'm one of ebay's best known, most highly regarded sellers of technical collectibles and technical antiques. I've been selling and shipping them for more than 25 years. When you purchase an item from me, you can rest assured that your purchase will arrive safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a phonograph from a farm tool), Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Mr. & Mrs. Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
