I had a chance to spend some time with Tommaso or "Tommy" Ascorti while in Chicago and also cherry pick what I thought to be the finest of the pipes he brought with him and I'm pleased to offer them to find a good home and be enjoyed! The Caminetto name needs no introduction, one of the most sought after Italian makes of all time with incredible pedigree. Tommy is naturally following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather to continue to offer handmade pipes that are world renowned. Though he tends to play off classic Caminetto shapes, he takes liberties as well which is very much welcomed as he shows his inimitable style here in this incredible Cavalier that perfectly balances, wow! It is NOT easy to carve a Cavalier that will balance like this, a work of art indeed. It is brand-new and is very true to the classic design from well over 100 years ago. The bowl is robust and Egg shaped while "attached" quite a bit to the long bored out shank with cap on the bottom made to collect moisture and above holds the hand-cut acrylic saddle fishtail stem with signature moustache logo; La Pipa Del Baffo! Finish is an exquisite candy apple red and the grain here is beautiful showing amazing birdseye absolutely covering the entire left side and starburst to the right exploding into flame and cross grain! Awaiting its first smoke and comes complete with original glove, a phenomenal pipe from Tommy Ascorti of Caminetto that is not to be missed!

Restoration Methods: I have been restoring pipes for 16 years and have taken bits and pieces from many guys whom I consider the best there ever was in the business and built upon it with my own experience and tricks of the trade. Each pipe is first cleaned by removing all cake, making the chamber smooth and round again if necessary, removing all gunk in the shank and stem with alcohol, then exterior cleaning and polishing of the stummel and stem with no oxidation left but at the same time leaving the vulcanite or acrylic and any logos intact. My restorations end with the pipe looking like new and being completely free from previous signs of use. I do not use salt/alcohol treatments in my bowls but rather if the pipe smells of prior tobacco I will put it in my ozone chamber to make neutral. Lastly, many guys ask me "how are your pipes so shiny!!??" I lightly use the fluffy edge of my white diamond buffing wheel to clean and restore stummels which removes all grime and oils while restoring the original factory luster. I then hand buff and finish with a flannel wheel with high quality carnauba applying multiple coats as they do at the factory as well. This results in the pipe looking as new and will keep it's finish with a simple terry cloth hand buffing at home. Enjoy!
