DESCRIPTION:  This is a Vintage Dan Peoples, Ivory Coast, Africa Poro Society Hooded Mask.  Mask is darkened wood, Hood is various fabrics, all appear to have been hand sewn strip-woven fabric, and with addition of what looks like recycled burlap on some of the underside.  Curiously the inside top of the mask has been burned, as well as some fabric edges- maybe to trim frays?  I understand that traditionally some masks were used once and burned, so perhaps this was rescued, though I'm not certain how to explain this.  I took photos- see the last in the set.  Regardless, this mask presents well, and would look nice on a stand or form that would support the Hooded area.

SIZE:  Mask itself measures ~8.5" tall X ~5" wide (measuring from the inside).  The mask has cloth and flaps, making the front measurement ~12.5" tall X ~10" wide.  The Hood portion is difficult to measure but I am getting about 13" front to back, with a hat-like area that measures ~8" deep X ~9" wide.

CONDITION:  This appears to be a mask that has been danced, used, and has normal expected wear and tear, dirt and staining.  As mentioned the inside top of the mask has been burned at some point, as have some of the edges inside, and one cloth area in the inside right bottom appears to have been burned off.  All of the decorative items are there that surround the mask and are on top of the mask. See photo #8 for right inside cloth flap that's gone- evidently burned off, Photos #11 to #15 for inside back and zoom in for areas where wood was burned and burlap singed inside top, and to inside right side of mask.  Looks like at the back base of the "cap" area they may have been trying to singe off frayed burlap?  Please use photos to help determine appearance and condition, and zoom in as needed.
