Programme
of events at the Crystal Palace in South London on 5 November 1892
including an afternoon concert performance of the Arthur Sullivan piece “The
Martyr of Antioch” with Edward Lloyd as Olybius and Anna Williams as
Margarita, conducted by August Manns. The 6.5” by 8.5” programme has twelve
pages packed with information about the events on this and subsequent days.
There is a detailed description of the Brock firework display (not all
shown in my scans) and it is interesting to note that although this was Guy
Fawkes Night it is the Anniversary of the Battle of Inkerman (38 years
earlier) which appears to be the excuse for such a grand display. The evening
concert including a selection from “The Gondoliers”. Among the many
adverts is one in which Jessie Bond, star of many Gilbert and Sullivan
operas, endorses the health benefits of attending the Electropathic and Zander Institute.
In superb condition with just minor signs of wear.
This
item was formerly in the collection of John Cannon, the respected G&S
collector and researcher who died in 2021. He left instructions that all
collectors should have a chance to acquire the treasures in his collection,
which will therefore be auctioned here over the next year or so by
StageMemories and PaperJoys. Please let us know if you would like to be added

Shipping: Please take a look at the shipping options offered, which are based
on my estimate of
the selling price. If an item sells for less than expected I may
be able to reduce the shipping cost. Equally, if an item sells for
considerably more than expected then you might wish to boost the
insurance or the depth of packaging, which will increase the shipping cost.
I am always happy to combine items
to reduce the shipping costs for you, but please note that when multiple
items reach a high total value I may ask you to insure the package. If you want
a service not stated, such as first class or surface mail, please ask for a
quote. In
all cases please discuss with me before making your payment. The maximum
possible level of insurance on items sent overseas with Royal Mail is £250.
If the total value of contents exceeds this figure then you will have to
accept the risk of sending the item(s), or choose an alternative courier.
