Sergei Ivanovich Malikov

Sergei Malikov was born in 1918 in the Kursk region of Kisolyovka. Early on in his childhood he knew poverty, but always was optimistic about life. His lifelong desire was to draw. Sergei Malikov was able to study and work as an artist in the Cinema. In 1946 the army was demobilized and he started working, painting the interior of a church in Novi-oscol. In 1947 he moved to Voronezh and worked in advertising and at the same time studied under A.P. Vasilegvo and Evgeniy Khoroshilov.
In 1950 he began exhibiting, throughout the Voronezh region and in 1967 he held his first major exhibition. In 1996-97 he was awarded a retrospective show of his entire career including his new works and his older more expressive and gripping works with boldness, brightness, and cheerfulness. Malikov's works never modeled after any other artists but rather developed his on unique style, he was an artist who never turned from his youthful path.

About 30 of his works are in private collections in London, 150 works are in the Moscow gallery "Sivtsev Vrazhek".
