Another fantastic find offered up for auction at a bargain price.      you are bidding on a rather splendid French antique cold painted bronze elephant inkwell in generally good shape  ( see report).     the elephant has been very nicely modelled and its wearing a passenger saddle so it can be ridden.     the saddle part flips open to reveal the inkwell but its missing the ink pot.    the elephant measures 5" x 4.25" and its solid and heavy weighing 527g.   I am not sure regarding its precise history but its marked underneath M DEPOSE so its definitely French ( think it means hand made?)    I would suggest the inkwell is a 19th century piece and certainly antique!      I think the elephant inkwell is a seriously fine thing so please see pics for a much better look & do not miss out.
