VINYLMANIAC Issue Number Eight. February 1984. One of the earliest Madonna Cover Appearances (with an interview), and certainly one of the rarest- as unlike Island Magazine it didn't have a local, plus national distribution profile. In fact- The Vinylmaniac was a magazine distributed by one Dance Music Store (albeit one with two NYC locations).
I sold one of these last year, that I held onto for a couple of decades. That copy had been marked with ink pens and magic markers by the store personnel- circling songs on the internal charts, DJ lists, etc. THIS COPY HAS NO SUCH MARKINGS. Aside from age-appropriate yellowing and VERY slight corner damage- it's nearly perfect.
THIS COPY was kept in a closet by the owner and publisher of Vinylmania and Vinylmaniac- Charlie Grappone (It is in fact, his hand in the pictures turning the pages!) Not only a rare issue, but with the imprimatur of a personal copy kept by the publisher! It is literally a Pedigree copy. I am honored that Charlie is allowing me to sell his copy for him.
