The album Peaked at #25 on the US Country charts. This is a live album with backing by The Strangers, released in 1985. It was Haggard's third live album in four years and was recorded at the Hollywood Star Theater. It features a mix of Haggard's big hits and other, more obscure tracks. The title cut, written by Freddy Powers, is a paean to the American farmer, in keeping with the spirit of the Willie Nelson-spearheaded Farm Aid benefit, as does "Tulare Dust" and "The Farmer's Daughter." Tammy Wynette and Janie Fricke among others performed background vocals.
Merle Ronald Haggard was an American country music singer, songwriter, guitarist, and fiddler. He was born in Oildale, California, toward the end of the Great Depression. His childhood was troubled after the death of his father, and he was incarcerated several times in his youth. After being released from San Quentin State Prison in 1960, he managed to turn his life around and launched a successful country music career. He gained popularity with his songs about the working class; these occasionally contained themes contrary to the anti–Vietnam War sentiment of some popular music of the time. Between the 1960s and the 1980s he had 38 number-one hits on the US country charts, several of which also made the Billboard all-genre singles chart. Haggard continued to release successful albums into the 2000s.

Goldmine standards are used on all records as follows:
Mint (M)-A perfect record in every way. This grading will never be used even on a sealed album.
Near Mint (NM or M-) - A nearly perfect record including labels. Shiny vinyl with no visible defects. Labels have no writing or stickers nor are any spindle marks visible. Covers have no creases, ring wear, or splits of any kind.
*Additionally, Near Mint Minus (NM-) is used to indicate a nearly perfect record with nice shiny vinyl that may have one or two very fine hairline scratches and/or some very minor scuffs that would have no effect on play.
Very Good+ or Excellent (VG+ or E) - VG+ records will show slight signs of wear including light scuffs or fine scratches and the label may have spindle marks. Covers may show some creasing and minor ring wear and cut-outs or punch-holes. Splits less than 1 inch long may also be present. Writing and/or stickers may also be present.
*Excellent is used to indicate a record better than very good plus. In general, an excellent record will have nice gloss and very few fine scratches and/or light paper scuffs. The cover will have no splits and no major creases.
Very Good (VG) - May have scratches feelable with a fingernail. Most of the original gloss will be gone or it may be evident that the record has been played extensively. The cover will have ring wear and may have significant splitting of the seams.
