Up for sale here is a body shimming guide designed to take some of the guess work out of how to make the adjustments necessary to properly align the doors in the door opening on your car when bolting the body back on to the frame if you are doing a NOS frame off restoration. I found this guide in a box of old body shop manuals that dated back to the 1950's, the car shown in the pictures looks a lot like a 1953-53 Chevy. The methods of shimming the body shown in this guide can be applied to almost any car made in the 1930's 1940's 1950's or 1960's. If you look closely at the drawings you will see that the fit of the door in the opening is way out of adjustment, there will be an large gap on one side and the door will be tight againest the body on the opposite side. The information that is shown on the sheets under the headings "Condition" and "Remedy" have been erased from the diagrams shown on this auction. I reduced the size so that I could show the four 2-door diagrams and the four 4-door diagrams on only two pictures on the auction. What I will be sending you is eight pages printed on 8 1/2 X 11 paper showing four different conditions of door misalignment on a two door car and four different conditions of door misalignment on a four door car. Each of the pages will show where the body is too tight or too far from the frame under "Condition" and under "Remedy" it will tell you where to add or subtract shims in order to correct the misalignment. Now I am not promising you any kind of rocket science calculations on these drawings, what they do is give you some direction in what you need to do in order to shim your body on the frame to make the doors fit the way they should. Look at it this way, the $6.95 that it will cost you for this eight page guide is the same amount you would spend on a pack of cigarettes in some states or three gallons of gas. Both the smokes and the gas will be gone in a heartbeat, this information will stay in your old car library forever.
