Benefits of using
Vehicle Adaptor Leads
- many aftermarket radios are supplied with ISO standard connectors
and this provides a convenient semi-universal interface to enable them
to be connected to most vehicle models.

vehicle model/stereo system permutations!
- when handsfree car-kits, for use with
mobile cellular telephones, first came into popular usage in the late
1990's it was common practice for a separate speaker box to be used to
output the sound of the called-party's voice.
- this generally caused problems due to inferior-quality audio and
clashing with the sound or music being output independently from the
vehicle's radio/stereo system.
- nowadays it is unacceptable and unnecessary for the driver to put up
with such a poor solution and we provide a massive range of solutions to
overcome the problems.
- our Vehicle Adaptor Lead solutions help to output the handsfree sound
through the vehicle's speakers and mute the radio/stereo automatically
during a handsfree call.

Radio-SWOP Leads
for ISO Aftermarket Radios
- if you are fitting an aftermarket radio which has ISO
connectors check-out our range of Radio-SWOP Adaptor Leads.
- we have solutions for thousands of different vehicle/radio
combinations - just search on Radio-SWOP in our eBay Store and
then on your vehicle make and model.
- it is important to know the exact model of radio that was originally
fitted by the vehicle manufacturer, so that the Radio-SWOP lead
matches the connector and pinouts of the vehicle wiring loom and
original radio connector.
- then the Radio-SWOP lead will convert the wiring to the ISO
standard. |
ISO or Not?
- Parrot kits are supplied as standard with a vehicle lead with ISO
connectors, which will allow the kit to be fitted into approximately 20%
of vehicles in common use in the UK.
- approximately 60% of vehicles require a simple ISO adaptor lead (often referred to
as a SOT lead) if the sound is to
be output through the vehicle's stereo system speakers.
- the remainder of vehicles have special amplified or
multi-speaker stereo systems and require other solutions such as Relayed Telemute leads
or
Direct-Input adaptors (EVEN IF the kit has ISO connectors) and in this
case the ISO Telemute lead supplied with the kit is not used.
- many makes of handsfree kit (other than Parrot) also use ISO connectors - for those
that do not, or where the vehicle has a special amplified or
multi-speaker stereo system we also supply Relayed Telemute leads and
Direct-Input adaptors. |

MusiConnect
AUX Leads
- our INKA-054 and INKA-058 ranges
of MusiConnect AUX Leads can be found in our eBay store in this

- the short part numbers used
on eBay for this range consists of XA for Adaptors/Extensions or
XC for Cables, followed by the last 4
digits of the INKA part number. e.g. for INKA-058-9801 the short eBay part number would be
XC9801.
- a MusiConnect
AUX Cable can be used with a MusiConnect
MC lead to divert the music output of a handsfree/music
kit away from the usual low-quality handsfree audio output system
and instead into the high-quality AUX input of a radio or
CD-changer. MC and XC leads are available for virtually any model
of vehicle. For example, MC8404 will connect a Parrot MKi9200 to
to a Vauxhall with CD30-type radio and XC8409 would connect to
MC8404 to a Vauxhall with CD30-type radio.
- alternatively, a MusiConnect
AUX Cable can be used with a MusiConnect
XA adaptor to directly connect a digital music device
to a vehicle. For example, XA9901 will connect to the 3.5mm jack
socket which exists on most iPods, iPhones and MP3 players and
XC8409 would connect to XA9901to a Vauxhall with CD30-type radio.
- also available in the MusiConnect XA
range are extensions if required. For example, XA9934 would extend
XA9901 to allow the MP3 player to be placed anywhere in the
vehicle cabin within an extra 2.5m reach.
- in all cases the use of the AUX Cable ensures the very
highest possible quality of music audio output. |
MusiConnect
Direct-Connect Music Leads

- the short part numbers used
on eBay for this range consists of MC followed by the last 4
digits of the INKA part number,
e.g. for INKA-048-0441 the short eBay part number would be
MC0441.
- MusiConnect
leads solve many problems which can occur when
attempting to connect a Parrot or other make of MusicKit to a vehicle's audio
system.
- The Parrot MusicKits (e.g. MK6000, MK6100, MKi9000, MKi9100,
MKi9200) and the iO kits (e.g. iO Play,
iO Talk 1) use a 24-way microfit connector on their main control box
for power and audio connections. A lead which converts this to ISO
is also supplied as standard by Parrot.
- some vehicles are unable to use the ISO interface but if a
Relayed or Direct-Input lead is used with some vehicles it is not
possible to achieve multi-channel multi-speaker stereo audio
output - resulting in severely
compromised music output quality.
- rather than using the ISO interface, our MusiConnect
leads directly access the 24-way microfit connector
ensuring the best-quality music output.
- electrical integrity is protected from further degradation
because the 4 pairs of ISO connectors are eliminated.
- less space is used behind the dashboard and the installation is

- when using the

MusicKits
- if installing a
MusicKit (i.e. a handsfree kit which also outputs digital/MP3
music), such as one of the Parrot MK or MKi families (e.g. MK600,
MK6100, MKi9000, MKi9100, MKi9200) please carefully consider the
special requirements for outputting stereo music.
- many radio connector systems do not allow for multi-speaker
stereo output as this has not been an important performance
requirement for handsfree speech-only output.
- if an SOT lead is being used it generally means 4-channel stereo
is supported.
- other solutions using relayed telemutes or direct-input leads
often do not support multi-speaker stereo output.
- to avoid disappointment, it is best to check with us to
establish the correct lead solution for a specific MusicKit and
vehicle combination.
- usually we have a solution - it can just be difficult to select
the correct one! |

- some vehicles
have parts of their stereo systems distributed physically around
the vehicle, e.g. an amplifier may be located under a seat or in
the boot.

Ignition-Sensors
- many vehicle wiring systems
do not provide easy access to an
ignition-switched live feed.
- many ISO SOT leads as well as Relayed and Direct-Input leads
require an ignition-switched live to be manually provided during
installation. This is because the vehicle manufacturer has not
provided an ignition-switched live feed via the radio circuit
connectors.
- all car-kits require an
ignition-switched live input and accessing one can require
time-consuming work removing trim and locating a switched source.
- to help with these systems we also supply IGNI-BOX automatic
plug-in Ignition-Sensing devices.
