The information below more thoroughly describes the characteristics of this ring

THE CUT of a diamond determines its brilliance. While nature determines a diamond's colour, clarity, and carat weight, the hand of a master craftsman is needed to release its fire and beauty. The cut gives each diamond its unique sparkle and brilliance by allowing the maximum amount of light to enter and reflect back out of the diamond. Diamonds may be cut in different shapes with the most common shapes being round (brilliant cut) and what are referred to as fancy cut diamonds including marquise, oval, pear shape, baguette and princess (square) cuts.

Colour Grading of Faceted Diamonds
COLOUR acting as a prism, a diamond can divide light into a spectrum of colours and reflect this light as colourful flashes called fire. Just as when looking through coloured glass, colour in a diamond will act as a filter, and will diminish the spectrum of colour emitted. The less colour in a diamond, the more colourful the fire, and the better the colour grade. Diamond colour grades start at D and continue through the alphabet. Truly colourless stones, graded D, are extremely rare and very valuable. The closer a diamond is to being colourless, the rarer and more valuable it is.

Grading for Clarity of Faceted Diamonds
CLARITY is the term used to describe the size and number of inclusions in a diamond. Almost all diamonds contain minute traces of non-crystallised carbon, the element from which they were born. These inclusions are nature's finger print and make every diamond quite unique. Most are not discernible to the naked eye and require magnification to become apparent. Large inclusions interfere with the dispersion of light and therefore the diamond's brilliance. The larger or more numerous the inclusions the less valuable the diamond. The fewer the inclusions, the rarer the stone. Each diamond will have its own unique inclusions in various positions within the diamond. VVs, Vs and Si inclusions are not visible to the naked eye, they are only visible through magnification.

GIA Definition
IF internally flawless Free of inclusions under 10 X magnification and absolutely transparent
VVS 1 very very
VVS 2 slightly included
Very few, very small inclusions, under 10 X magnification very difficult to see
VS 1 very slightly included
VS 2 slightly included
Very small inclusions, under 10 X magnification difficult to find
SI 1 slightly included
SI 2 slightly included
Small inclusions, easily recognized under 10 X magnification
I1 included I Inclusions, immediately recognized under 10 X magnification, but not diminishing brilliance
I2 included II Larger and/or numerous inclusions slightly diminishing the brilliance recognizable with the naked eye
I3 included III Large and/or numerous inclusions, diminishing the brilliance considerably

THE CARAT measurement of a diamond is a measurement of the Diamond's weight rather than its size or diameter.

Perfection, look for a colourless diamond with a grade of D-F
Excellent value in a diamond with no noticeable colour to the unaided eye, look for a near-colourless grade of G-I
To stay on budget and not compromise on colour choose a diamond with a good cut and SI1–SI2 clarity
