Bretby Pottery plantation workers - matching pair pattern number 1491
These wall pockets aredated at circa 1891-1900 through the type of backstamp, which has the starburst and pattern number along with England.
These are a matching pair of different facial and head postions, but due to the fact that both share the same pattern number they where sold as a pair.
12cm tall by 11cm wide approx
Both are black with red under the har brow and on the shirt area - the teeth are also red
Condition is very good considering the fragile nature casts
No cracks or bits missing and the only issue at all is a slight loss of paint to the hat tops - i could have easily covered this, but will leave it to the buyer to colour in. A very easy job as it is just the paint suface rubbing. The main faces and frontage is perfect and even the rubbing on the hat top rims is very mild.
These are very very good for age and rare in unbroken or damaged condition
An original matching pair
