It is ideal for pond filtration or aquaponic systems (Google IBC aquaponic systems).

This External Flood Drain Bell Siphon stops and starts reliably with a wide range of gravity flow rates.

Aquaponics is a satisfying way to clean your pond water whilst growing organically. IBC containers, half oak barrels or any large watertight containers can be use as an aquaponic grow bed.

I originally made/developed this siphon for my own uses as I found other convential siphons were not up to scratch.


     

The advantages of this siphon over conventional bell siphons are:

  • The siphon does not sit in the middle of your grow bed instead it is attached to the outer side. This avoids trying to work around a bell siphon.

  • Traditional bell siphons have a tendency to flood with media when moved or disturbed – making it is very difficult and inconvenient to remedy as you need to dismantle your grow bed to reseat the siphon.

  • As this innovative design attaches to the side of your grow bed you can sit your system on a flat surface. It does not require your container to be directly above your water source.

  • It allows ease of relocation of your grow bed if you need to move it, as there is no pipe extending from the bottom that can be dislodged or cause damage.

  • It will be made to your personal requirements.

  • Valuable growing space is not taken up by a bell siphon which is sited in the bed.

  • Should you ever need to clean or remove debris from this system it is easily removed without disturbing your media.
