ANTIQUE PRINT LITTLE GIRLS PLAYING FALLEN LEAF FAIRY TALE ARTHUR RACKHAM 1906

Arthur Rackham lived from 1867-1939 British Artist.

I contacted the Arthur Rackham Society and they were so kind as to provide me with this information:

"This illustration is titled "There is almost nothing that has such a keen sense of fun as a fallen leaf". This is plate no. 6 (of 50) from Arthur Rackham's Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, published in 1906 both in England (Hodder & Staughton) and the USA (Charles Scribner); there have been numerous reprints of this book over the years. This illustration also appeared as plate no. 2 (or 12) in Rackham's 1912 issue of The Peter Pan Portfolio issued in London by Hodder & Staughton; this work was issued in France by Librairie Hachette & Cie in 1911, and in the USA by Brentano's in 1914.

Plates in The Peter Pan Portfolio are proof size plates, much enlarged illustrations from the 1906 edition. Because of their larger size, plates from many of the Portfolios were removed and separately framed for display. The size of your print would suggest that it was one that has been removed from one of the Portfolios".

http://www.korzendorfer-bick.com/ I contacted the store and they informed me that their first store opened in 1898 and was sold in approx 1948.  The company then moved down the street to new locations over the years.  They framed both prints and originals and still do.  So, based on what the store told me, this print must have been purchased PRIOR TO 1948.
