Description

This 2014 Presidential $1 coin is struck in proof quality.  United States Mint proof coins feature sharp relief and a mirror-like background.  Their frosted, sculpted foregrounds give them a special cameo effect.  Proof blanks are specially treated, polished and cleaned to ensure high quality strikes.  The blanks are then fed into presses fitted with specially polished dies and struck at least twice to ensure sharp relief.  This coin is encapsulated to protect, showcase, and maintain the exceptional finish.

 

The reverse (tails) design featuring a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty.  This 2014 coin feature large, dramatic artwork, as well as edge-incused inscriptions of the year of minting or issuance, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mint mark.  IN GOD WE TRUST appears on the face of the coins.

 

The 2014 obverse (heads) of this coin honors President Warren G. Harding.   This design features an image of President Harding with the inscriptions WARREN G. HARDING, IN GOD WE TRUST, 29th PRESIDENT, and his years in office: 1921 – 1923.


Please note:  Manganese brass clad coins often develop toning as part of the natural aging process.

 

 

Program

The United States Mint launched the Presidential $1 Coin Program in 2007.  The 10-year initiative includes dollar coins featuring obverse designs honoring our Nation’s Presidents in the order in which they served in office.  2011 was the last year that Presidential $1 coins were minted for circulation.  Beginning with 2012, Presidential $1 coins are minted in smaller numbers only for the numismatic market – collectors and investors.
