Cotswold Thresholds - A 'natural' alternative to the common 'metal' door bar.

Cotswold Thresholds is the home of the all-natural, hardwood carpet threshold.

With more of us looking to improve rather than move - and the current trend being towards a more natural look and feel - Cotswold Thresholds' treadplates are a real interior design statement and, unlike the common metal door bars, add a real touch of class to any home.

Using mahogany, oak and beech, our door strips are available in double & single ramp profile styles to suit carpet-to-carpet, carpet-to-vinyl and carpet-to-natural flooring. They are also available in two widths (32mm and 45mm) and two lengths (1m and 2m).

All our hardwoods are sourced from managed forests and FSC-certified suppliers and finished by hand with two coats of oil to produce a smooth soft sheen finish that enhances the beauty of the wood. The non-toxic oil used is water and heat resistant and the same used on many children's wooden toys. And, unlike many 'cheap' softwood alternatives using dyes and varnishes, Cotswold Thresholds can be re-finished to restore them to an as-new condition.

Each threshold is supplied with pre-drilled metal fixing brackets & screws, for nailing or screwing to the floor, or the threshold can be simply fixed with a strong adhesive, such as liquid nails, gripfill etc. To ensure a flush fit to the floor, bracket recesses have been cut underneath the threshold. The fixings are designed to be concealed by the floor coverings.

Wood is a natural product, and therefore the grain and colouring will vary with each threshold, making each unique in appearance.

FAQ              Q.  What are the other dimensions of the threshold?

                                  A.  All dimensions for each profile, are detailed in 'The Product' section of our website (link above).

                                 Q.  Can you supply other sizes?

                                 A.  Unfortunately we are unable to supply alternative sizes to our range.

(your local timber merchants, joiners or carpenters may be able to help).

                               Q. Can the thresholds be used with wood/laminate flooring, or stone/ceramic tiles.

                               A. Wood & Laminate flooring suppliers, usually offer a selection of colour matching thresholds, which are 'rebated' to

'sit on top' of the flooring. This conceals the edge of the flooring, and any unevenness. This ‘rebated’ design, is also

suitable for stone or ceramic tiles.

Cotswold thresholds were designed specifically for the ‘carpet trade. The ‘double ramp’ profile for carpet-to-carpet

(levels of similar height), and the ‘single ramp’ profile for carpet to a lower area, such as vinyl, or floorboards. If used

with wood, tiles etc, the threshold would have to be fitted 'alongside' the flooring edge, and any unevenness between

                                  the edges, would require filling.
