Zero-Mod thumb Rest for Rickenbacker 4003,now in black~!
The classic is 1/4 inch thick, while this "Fat Boy" is 3/8 thick. We made this in response to requests
from Ric owners who loved the original
but felt a somewhat thicker one would be the thing!FITS ALL 4003 and 4003S basses up to 2015 with one piece guard -
Older two piece guards require a 4001 style rest.
WILL FIT THE early 2014 4003W (transition year for the pickguard)
MAY NOT FIT THE 2015 or 2016 4003 or 4003S
(compare your guard against the illustrations for those years)
DOES NOT FIT 2017 and newer editions of the 4003 OR THE 4003S

OK, Now that we know what it fits, what exactly is it?=============================================A custom thumb rest for the Rickenbacker 4003 bass with ZERO modifications required to your bass!
If you are a fingerstyle player with a Rickenbacker 4001 or 4003, you know there is no really good place to
"hang your thumb" - You see many Rics with a wear spot at the corner of the pickguard, where players try to
"dig in", and many Rics with the chrome cover removed from the bridge pickup to allow finger style access.
I designed this for my own 4003 as I wanted to make it more comfortable to play and keep the "cover on"
for the classic look that is a big part of this bass for many Ric fans.
This thumb rest is made out of 3/8 inch thick high quality acrylic,
and precision CNC made in a machine shop here in the USA.
The position and design mean NO NEW HOLES in your bass!
Includes two pickguard screws that are slightly longer than the stock Ric screws,
so you do not even change the screw holes by adding this on.
It's almost invisible on a black guard from a few feet away.
