Description

The goose hunt has been an integral part of Aboriginal life for thousands of years.  Every autumn and spring, communities located along migration paths would turn to the sky for this treasured food source that could provide as much as four months' supply for some coastal communities.

Hunters would read the weather to anticipate the arrival of the geese, even watch the melting ice and exposed water to predict where the geese would land.  The hunt often lasted for days and was a special time of sharing between generations, highlighted by rites of passage as young men hunted on their own for the first time.

Special features:

·        A wonderful keepsake to celebrate the "brotherhood of hunters," and pay tribute to the special times shared between men and boys during the annual ritual of goose hunting.

·        A unique coin showcasing the rich Aboriginal heritage of North America - the perfect gift for history buffs, anyone with a passion for First Nations culture and traditions.

·        A must-have work of art stunningly crafted in 99.99% pure silver.

·        For our Canadian customers, this coin is GST/HST exempt.

Design:

Cree artist Tim Whiskeychan has created a wonderful design of a traditional Aboriginal hunter taking aim at a pair of Canada geese with his bow and arrow.  He is wearing traditional Cree clothing.  The hunter is hiding behind tall grass that would typically border a body of water where boreal forest meets grasslands.  The snow melt on the water suggests this is a springtime goose hunt.

Packaging:

Each coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clam-shell protected by a black beauty box

A beautiful gift coin for any occasion!

Unsearched”All of the coins offered in this listing are “unsearched”.  Many coin dealers “search” all coins when they are received from the Mint.  They "cherry-pick" the best coins.  Then submit them to be graded, certified, and slabbed by PCGS, NGC, ANACS, etc.  These graded and certified coins are then sold at higher, premium prices.  When a dealer searches coins, those that they sell in original Mint packaging are only lesser quality coins.

Photos: When a listing offers multiples of the same coin, one coin is picked at random and photographed.  Since all coins offered in that listing are essentially identical, the coin photographed is representative of all coins offered.

Surface areas that appear black on some proof coin photos are actually highly polished, mirror-bright metal reflecting the color of the camera. We often include proof coin photos with the coin slightly tilted to better depict the mirror bright surfaces.  However, tilting the coin may resulting one side being slightly out of focus.

Our goal is to provide clear, high definition photos that accurately represent the coin(s) offered in each of our eBay listings.  Whenever possible, we use actual photos of our coins, rather than just stock artwork from the Mint.  We frequently update and upgrade the photos that appear with our listings, using improved cameras and lenses and better lighting.  We will honor your requests for additional photos as quickly as our schedule permits.
