Functional, fold-in kickstart lever for XS11 Standard models.
Heavy duty, with a wider swing clearance than my economy version.
This is for 19mm Yamaha splined kickstart shaft
...may fit other models!
the actual part where you put your foot (where the rubber is) is 3/12" long
Just The long part is 8" long
Total length is approx 11" long which is from the bottom of the clamp to the top of the kick lever.

These are BRAND NEW!
ONLY Fits '78 - '79 XS1100 STANDARD's
(with an external kicker shaft).
(A customer had difficulty fitting this to his "SPECIAL" model)
PLEASE NOTE: Even with the extra clearance this kicker provides,
some "massaging" may be required on your bike.
Please be prepared to possibly do
some clearancing at the foot/brake mount.
Although this kicker is functional, it is more for looks, as the XS11 has a great electric starter.
most models have some interference with full kick swing, at the brake arm.
Do not buy this if you are unwilling to make any modifications,
as it is likely that there will be some minor clearance issues with the brake arm.
usually guys move the kicker assembly slightly away from the engine
(pulling it towards you when looking at the bike)
and bending or grinding the brake arm and/or the brake arm shaft tube.
This kicker will likely require some massaging to work full swing on a stock XS11.
Do not buy if you have no experience "making things work"
as it is not a perfect plug n play solution.

NOTE: Some European/Australian early '78 standard models had higher,
more rear set foot pegs that sit just behind the kickstart spline.
The kickstart you have pictured will not fit these models,
as the kickstart lever pivot mechanism hits the footpeg
very early into its rotation.
I own such a '78 model, and quite a bit of work is required
to get any kicker to work on these.
(note that the Blue XS in the pictures below is
a US late '78, and does not have this problem)

Q: so I shouldn't buy your kick start pedal for my 79 xs1100 if I plan on actually ever using it?
A: Hi!
some people have trouble with the clearance of the lever and brake arm at full swing with the economy version, this heavy duty unit is meant to help fix that issue.
in your case with the economy version, you can either NOT kick it all the way past the brake arm, or make appropriate changes-
but if you don't mind making slight modifications (if your model is one that is affected, some models are not...),
then you can make any necessary modifications, and you will be satisfied.
Some people don't even own a screwdriver, let alone a tool kit, or have never even changed a spark plug, so i have to make that disclaimer.
Some people can't kick-start a 125cc bike either :-) - (let alone an XS11 beast.)
If you are able to use the non-folding kickstarter that came with the bike,
then you should be able to do it.
i have sold over 80 units, -26 kickers this year alone, and installed 10 on my bikes and customer bikes,
and have had one person complain that he was not able to kick his bike to life, and one person's bike that had
a damaged the internal spring, so that the kicker would not retract, -so i have to make the disclaimer.
I can't guarantee a "no modification" fitment, or promise that everyone will even be able to kickstart an 1100cc bike, that's all.
I'm just trying to be completely honest and up front regarding an aftermarket part.
Which is how i would want to be treated if i was considering the purchase of a non-stock part.
Most of the time it doesn't happen that way in the custom parts world, and we are left with a part that doesn't fit as hoped,
and modifications have to be made.
It is always "buyer beware" when getting custom parts.- i am doing my best to keep my customer AWARE of what he is getting into.
If i know that modifications may be needed, up front, i get a lot less frustrated :-)

what is the exact problem? the biggest problem i have seen is people trying to put it on a 80-81 model with no kick start shaft! or people who aren't physically capable of kick starting a big bike. There are many you tube videos showing you how to properly kick-start a motorcycle. |
