Description

Here you have a selection of professionally made drum lamp shades, made to order in your choice of genuine vintage fabrics. These make a great gift or feature for any room of the house. You have a choice of fabrics and sizes all in limited amounts - when they're gone they're gone!

I have been making homewares for many years now and I run my homewares workshop full time. The shades are made to a professional standard and all materials meet relevant fire safety standards.

Sizes

My lamp shades are available in three sizes:

20cm diameter (18cm high)

Suitable for small lamp stands, bedside tables or in small spaces where space is limited.

30cm diameter (21cm high)

Suitable for any setting, a medium sized shade that would fit as a room/ceiling shade or on a longer table or floor standing lamp stand.

40cm diameter (25cm high)

Suitable for larger spaces, these are real statement shades suitable as room/ceiling shades or for larger floor standing lamp stands.

Usage

All of these shades can be fitted on a pendant (ceiling) light or a free-standing lamp. Please note all images are of the shades attached to a free standing floor lamp. If you use them for a pendant the print will appear 'upside down'. As none of these are directional prints that will not make any difference to the overall look of the shade.

My shades will fit any UK fitting (Bayonet Cap B22) or European (Edison Screw E27). They have a converter cap to work with both fittings. Recommended for indoor use only.

Diffusers

If you would like to order a diffuser to go with your pendant shade, please click on the link at the top of the listing. You have a choice of diffusers to go with your lampshades which are really useful for ceiling/pendant lights as they make for a softer ambience and draw the eye to the shade rather than the bulb inside. I would highly recommend these be considered for the 40cm shades as the bulb is otherwise very visible which can detract from the beauty of your bespoke shade.

The plain diffusers are made from translucent polypropylene which allows light through but it is not see-through / transparent.

The louvered diffusers add to the beauty of the shade and create a real wow factor. Made using premium foamex with a transparent PVC cover.

Safety

The lamp shade panels used have been tested in the Lighting Association Laboratories and have passed the glow wire test, which is the British Standard for Luminaries. The fabrics used become fire resistant upon adhesion to the panels. We recommend the use of low energy bulbs with our lampshades. They use less energy and are cool to the touch, avoiding the problem of scorched shades and ceilings.

Fabrics

All of the fabrics used in this listing are genuine vintage fabrics sourced worldwide. A majority of them are in perfect, as new, condition but there are a few exceptions. Where there are markings or imperfections they are shown in the images. In particular please note:

Fabric 6: has a few tiny orange marks on one of the shades. These are not overly noticeable when the lamp is in use.

Fabric 9: This has spotting which is visible across most of the lighter and orange parts of the shade. If you want a 'brand new' looking item, do not order this shade. This imperfection is reflected in the price.

Where there is a picture of the fabric but not the shade, I have not got around to making up a sample yet, but the fabric is in stock and available to order. Fabric 3 is identical to fabric 2 but in shades of green and blue.

The images shown here are examples only, your shade will vary according to the fall of the fabric. Some of the fabrics have a very large print so will vary significantly from the examples shown in the images. For these fabrics I have shown more than one example of how the print might look. If there is only one image of the shade, the pattern is not likely to vary significantly. If you would like to view the actual fabric I will use for your shade, please contact me prior to buying and I will happily send a picture of the fabric I have in stock so you can make sure you are happy with it.

All of the fabrics shown are in stock and available. If you would like a shade delivered for a special occasion, please check with me before you commit to buy to ensure that I can ship in time.

Please note that the free postage quoted is for UK postcodes covered by the carrier My Hermes. There will be a surcharge for some postcodes not covered by the carrier and also for Channel Islands and BFPO addresses. Please contact me prior to purchasing if you would like to know the extra cost as this will vary depending on your location and the size of the board purchased. If not I will forward a request for the additional sum and you will have the option to cancel your order.
