Welcome, and thank you for looking!

New brass winding key that fits Kern miniature and midget movement clocks. These are the smaller Kern clocks, measuring approximately 9'' or less from bottom of base to top of dome or case.

We know anniversary clocks. Are you looking for a key for your Kern clock, but aren't sure if it is a Kern miniature or midget movement clock? Are you looking for a key for one of your other anniversary clocks? We can help!

Karl Kern purchased Kienzle Clock Factories' tools and dies in 1929, and began producing mechanical anniversary clocks with partner J. Link. That partnership dissolved in 1932, with Kern continuing to produce clocks under his name alone until 1937, when he formed Kern & Sohne with his sons. Kern introduced a line of miniature movement clocks in 1954, and midget movement clocks in 1958. Production continues to this day, making his company one of the two last to continue producing mechanical anniversary clocks, and the last to produce 400 day clocks. During those years, he sold clocks not only under his own name, but also under such importers as Heco, Perfecta Watch and Clock Company, and Wilmac, among others. To complicate matters, other anniversary clock manufacturers also sold clocks through these same importers. And although some Kern midget movement clocks have some uniquely identifiable characteristics, such as lack of an arch, classic Greek style columns, or distinctive hands, others may not.

Here's how we can help you find the right key for your clock: Contact us, and attach a close up picture of the brass plate on the back of your clock (this plate is like a fingerprint). It should be a fairly sharp picture, but doesn't have to be perfect. If any writing on the plate cannot be read from the photograph, just type it in the text of the message. No digital camera? No problem. Along with any writing on the back plate, include a top to bottom measurement of your clock. We will reply with the clock manufacturer's name, movement size, approximate date of manufacture, and the title of our auction for the right key if we stock a key that fits. We stock keys for almost all anniversary clocks made after WWII, as well as some anniversary clocks made before. Any questions, just ask!
