Original 1938 UK Edition WILD WEST WEEKLY 43 Cowboy Pulp Magazine E.R. Home-Gall

Original vintage issue of the December 31, 1938 issue of Wild West Weekly , a large-format western-themed pulp magazine published by the Amalgamated Press, London.

The magazine measures 12½" x 9½" and has 28 pages. The bold colorful photogravure artwork on the front cover is unsigned, but was likely painted by noted illustrator Derek Charles Eyles, who did many covers for the magazine.

The artwork illustrates a scene from "The Trail of the Monster Magnet," one of the stories in the issue.

Other stories include "A Dog-Gone Muddle," "Was His Dad an Outlaw," "Bully Danvers Pays No Wages," "The Men of Harlech March Again," "Redskin Russell,"and "The Ranch Grabber."

"Rod Mason's Round-the-World Trail" is the only story with a named author:&nbsp: E.R. Home-Gall, more formally known as Edward Reginald Home-Gall. He was one of the most prolific of all authors for pulp magazines like Wild West Weekly, although most of his oeuvre is in the science-fiction field.

This issue of Wild West is identified as Volume One, Number 43. It was printed by the Sun Engraving Company and is an excellent example of the pre-WW2 pulp fiction magazines that focused on the American West of the 19th and early 20th century.

It is also a hard-to-find magazine, having ceased operation after only 50 issues. It was published in England by the Amalgamated Press, Ltd., The Fleetway House, Farringdon Street, London, E.C. 4, from March 12, 1938 to February 18, 1939.

Condition:  This issue of Wild West Weekly is in very good, lightly used condition, complete and intact. The staples at the center fold have rusted a wee bit, there's some minor edge wear, and the back cover has a chip in the lower corner. The inside pages were printed on a lightweight newsprint paper which has softened and toned with age. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
