Up for sale is a fantastic, original hand-colored Engraving.  Etching by Johannes Kipp after Leendert Knijff from the series Britannia Illustrata, 1707.  Titled "RYCOTT IN THE COUNTRY OF OXFORD ONE OF THE SEATS OF THE RT. HONORABLE MONTAGUE EARLE OF ABINGDON BARON NORREYS OF RYCOTT".

Johannes Kip (1653-1722) was a Dutch draftsman, engraver and printer dealer, After Leendert Knijff (1650-1721) was a Dutch draughtsman and painter.

The linked careers of Kip and Knijff made a specialty of engraved views of English country houses, represented in detail from the bird's-eye view, a pictorial convention for topography. Their major work was Britannia Illustrata: or Views of Several Of The Queens Palaces, as Also of the Principal seats of the Nobility and Gentry of Great Britain, Curiously Engraven on 80 Copper Plates, London (1707, published in the winter of 1708-1709).  The volume is among the most important English topographical publications of the 18th century.

The engraving is professionally matted and framed, however, the wood frame is damaged in several places.  The frame is approximately 26 1/2" x 21 1/2".  The actual engraving is approximately 19" x 13".

Generally, the engraving is in Good Condition.  I don't see any major issues on the actual piece.  It has a centerfold where it was originally bound within the Britannia Illustrata.  It has not been examined outside of the frame.

It is a beautifully colored engraving - an excellent investment and a superb example of these great artists work - a perfect piece for any collector!

Other dings here and there.  Please note shipping charges.   * I will remove from frame and ship much cheaper upon request.
