HIGH QUALITY POLISHED HARDWOOD

The high density and natural luster of boxwood has made it the long standing favorite for the best carved wooden chessmen. This set features boxwood on both sides; finely carved and highly polished. While the "white" side shows its natural wood grain, the "black" pieces are deeply stained to match the color of ebony. The two sides match each other perfectly in weight, feel and luster, while maintaining the dark and light tones most ideal for chess play.

PADDED AND WEIGHTED

These chessmen are generously weighted, and padded on the bottom with a leather-like cover. This soft, smooth and durable padding gives a definite feeling of contact with the chessboard, and is generally preferred to common felt and flock paddings.

The entire set weighs 1 pounds, 14 ounces.

The king of this set stands 3.75 inches tall.
They fit comfortably on a board of 1.75 to 2.25 inch squares.
