Bullet Sinkers (or Worm Sinkers, as they are also known) provide anglers with a streamlined shape, smooth sides and an anti-snag design that makes these Weights easy to use, enabling subtle presentations, and are ideal for working weedy cover easily.  Originally designed for Texas rigging soft plastics they can be used for freshwater species such as Bass, or Flathead in the estuary. Great results can be achieved by rigging small soft plastic worms on Texas or running style rigs, casting the lure across tide and letting the lure tumble back down-tide before slowly retrieving it.  This method can be highly effective when fishing a berley trail and can out-fish bait.

To use this type of sinker -
  • Hold the sinker so the tip of the sinker faces up
  • Feed the end of your line down through the top so it exits from the bottom
  • Tie a hook to the end of your line using your knot of choice
  • Place a soft plastic lure onto the hook
  • When the lure is in position, the end of the bullet slides down to cover the head of the lure
This presentation holds the selected bait in a natural state, hiding the hook from sight, while keeping the hook in the perfect position for a solid hook set.

Want another great use for this sinker? Saltwater anglers who fish for pelagic species use these sinkers to fish the slide; the time when the boat shuts down power after a trolling jig strike to get the troll fish reeled in. Put the worm/bullet sinker backwards above the hook, with the tapered end facing the hook, and the flared end facing the angler and drop the bait during the slide to catch fish that follow the troll hooked fish towards the boat. The flared end of the sinker catches water and puts the bait back to the fish quicker.

Why use Tungsten?

Tungsten’s heavy alloys concentrate the maximum weight into the smallest possible space; as a result a tungsten weight forces a lure or bait to increase its sink rate, reaching the desired depth more quickly than similarly shaped Lead weights will. Tungsten alloy worm weights create twice the sound of lead weights, assisting in attracting the attention of fish.

Swimerz Bullet Sinkers are available in Lead and environmentally friendly Tungsten.
