This extremely versatile precision engineered tool for stripping down and reassemble or the single cylinder engines to provides slinger access and for other bottom end work, supplied with complete set of step by step instructions detailing the procedure for stripping the engine engine down to the crank and cleaning the slingers using this tool.

To remove the crankshaft so you can clean the slingers, you have got to have this special tool, this versatile tool; removes the generator bearing, crankshaft sprocket, front bearing carrier, camshaft, threaded oil drive cover, flywheel and the rear main bearing (will not remove the rear main bearing on the R24 and R25). It will also press back on the front bearing carrier, timing sprocket, generator bearing and the rear main bearing.

Replaces Matra tool numbers; 282 299 299a 311 355a 355/8 355/9 467 498 535 5022 5038/1 W5038 5047.

Note: The BMW slingers are cupped pieces of metal that act as highly efficient centrifugal oil filters for the /2 Boxer engine. They should be cleaned every 20,000 - 30,000 miles or when you do not know the history of an engine to avoid irreparable damage to the connecting rod, big end bearings or crank which will occur once these slingers become full of oil debris. As they say, take care of your crank and it will take care of you!
