Geology: Amethyst belongs to the quartz family and has a hardness of 7. During its formation millions of years ago, traces of titanium, manganese and iron were added to liquid silicon (SiO2), the basic building block of all quartz, which gave amethyst its unique color. The most well-known sites where amethysts can be found are in Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico and Western Australia.

Historical tradition: Amethyst is revered by almost all peoples of the world. The name comes from the Greek word "amethy-stos", which is equivalent to the expression "not drunk". The Greeks believed that the amethyst endows upon the wearer more firmness of character, which provides a protection against magic, home sickness, evil thoughts and drunkenness. Moreover, it protects the wearer against invasion of the mind by evil forces. It transforms bad thoughts into optimism and provides a release from false friends, who are simply kept away. Amethyst should always be worn in a way that makes it visible. After the sites where amethysts were located in Germany, around the area of Idar-Oberstein, were exploited about 100 years ago, the Idar-Oberstein pioneers emigrated to South America where they were fortunate enough to develop sites where the revered amethysts could be found.

Curative and therapeutic effects on the body: Amethyst has a calming effect on the heart and nerves and it improves the ability to concentrate. It helps against migraine and tension caused by stress. If an amethyst is laid under the pillow, it will ensure that you sleep gently and it will guard you against nightmares. First of all, it stimulates those people who lack fantasy and protects children from the effects of stressful events, such as outbursts of fury, hysteria, stuttering, epilepsy, neuroses and skin rashes frequently associated with these. It activates the connective tissue of the skin and helps the skin to better store water. Consequently, the skin becomes more resistant to diseases and remains longer in a supple and soft condition, right into advanced age. Amethyst water cares not only for the skin, but also clears the glands and pores of blackheads and congestions. Amethyst harmonizes hair growth from the hair cells and alleviates superfluous facial hair and a loss of hair. Warm amethyst baths activate the skin to breathe, and by means of the sweat glands it produces better cleansing of the body. In the case of itching skin irritations, reddening and weeping eczema, we recommend swabbing the affected skin areas with an amethyst massage rod, in combination with an amethyst chamomile following wounds caused by rubbing, amethyst water can be used very much like a gentle shaving water.

People with blood disorders, anemia and too high or too low blood pressure should always carry a phantom amethyst with them. This has a very calming effect on the heart musculature. Blood pressure will be stabilized and the organism will be protected against reaching extreme systolic and diastolic values. An amethyst as geode or as a ball placed in a room is not only a fantastic ornament, but will also keep negative Earth radiation at bay. Amethyst water, when drunk on empty stomach in the morning, stimulates metabolism, protects against gastric ulcers, regulates hormone production in the pancreas and blood sugar. Amethyst provides very good assistance in the case of diabetes.

tea. At the same time, you should regularly wear amethyst discs or chains on the skin. This applies also following sunburn, as well as acne and disorders causing pimples. Concentrated amethyst - calcite water (allow approximately 5 clear amethysts about the size of walnuts draw overnight together in 0.51 water with orange calcite or clear calcite) helps very well when applied by dabbing or gargling against frequent (chronic) small blisters on the lips, corners of the mouth, sides of the nose, sex organs and the skin (herpes simplex and herpes labials). Amethyst massage rods in combination with amethyst water can also be used against psoriasis and dermatomycosis of all kinds. Effusions of blood, blue maculae, swellings,' insect bites and other injuries to the skin can likewise be very quickly alleviated and healed with amethyst.

Curative and therapeutic effects on the mind: Amethyst strengthens belief and allows its wearer to judge and act in a more just and impartial manner. It stimulates fantasy and strengthens true friendship whilst driving away false friends. Amethyst gives protection against difficulties in learning and fear of examinations and tests. Amethyst geodes mediate more harmony, unity in the family, warmth and security.

Sign Of the zodiac: Pisces, 20th February to 20th March

Sceptre amethyst: Sceptre amethysts are amethysts which have developed on already existing crystals. They can be distinguished from phantom amethysts in that they have grown externally over the crystal and show common growth. Using scepter amethysts, healing effects can be transformed in an even more concentrated manner to the afflicted parts of the body.

Enhyrdo amethyst: These amethysts derive their properties from enclosed primeval waters dating back millions of years. The primeval water in these amethysts is exceptionally rich in energy and is pure. It strengthens, in particular, the meditative properties of the amethyst. Enhydro crystals open the chakras still more sensitively and, at the same time, stimulate the nerve centers especially vigorously during opening.

Chakra: During meditation, amethyst produces greater devotion to life and trust in life. It penetrates intensively through the crown chakra. It mediates pleasant impulses in relation to the joy of living and partnership. Amethyst gives its wearer the ability to recognize and solve problems from a wider perspective. At the same time, it generates a high level of peace, joy, warmth, calm and harmony. Amethyst chains, when worn on a regular basis, bestow more temperament and an irresistible charisma, amethysts inspire intuition.

How can I obtain an amethyst and how should I look after it? Because of their popularity and thanks to their beautiful color, amethysts can be obtained as rough stones, crystals, hand stones, book ends, geodes, chains, pyramids, obelisks, donuts and many fantastic elements for necklaces and leather bands etc., as well as high-quality, faceted precious stones. Amethyst should be discharged and cleaned under running, lukewarm water. We recommend that chains are discharged once a month overnight in a dry bowl with hematite tumbled stones. Amethyst should never be charged in the sun, but in a group or geode made of amethyst crystals.
