A Fred Rogers Sweater from "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," Circa
1971. PBS Television, 1968-2001. Teal blue wool, v-neck, five
silver-colored 'crest' buttons, handstitched label inside has a
blue ballpoint ink handwritten annotation reading "3;" worn
by the host of the show and then gifted to
Audrey Roth, the cast member who portrayed "Miss Paulificate" for
many years; included with a letter from Roth's daughter which reads
in part "My mother brought this sweater home after a day of
taping / in the studios of WQED Pittsburgh.../not many 'button'
sweater survive. The cable-knit zipper / sweaters made by Fred's
mother are probably the most familiar;" also included are five of Roth's scripts from a full week of 1990s episodes titled "Dressing Up" and a
small black and white publicity photograph of her. This all comes in the original envelope. The sweater has pilling due to age.
